Summer Rockies Classic Tour

Summer Rockies Classic Tour

The Canadian Rocky Mountains; nothing is more iconic of our great country than these mountains. The Classic Tour is our original and most popular tour that Discover Canada Tours began with. You will have overnight stays in Revelstoke, the Town of Banff, and Valemount. These three towns epitomize the landscapes and cultures of three distinct areas of Western Canada.

The Classic Tour includes amazing sightseeing stops in the Okanagan Valley, the grandeur of the Selkirk Mountains and the imposing peaks of the Rocky Mountains. You will also have the chance to visit the gorgeous turquoise glacial lakes of the Rockies, including one of the most photographed lakes in the world, Lake Louise.

We also offer two amazing optional activities. You can have the chance to walk on a glacier at the Columbia Icefields. This is a once in a lifetime experience that makes you realize just how fragile our planet is. You can also choose to take a gondola ride up Sulphur Mountain in Banff. At the top, you will be treated to 360-degree panoramas of the Rocky Mountains and a fantastic view over the Town of Banff and the gorgeous turquoise Bow River.

We carefully select all of the hotels to include in our tour packages and wonderful Standard hotel accommodations are included in the tour price but you also have the option to upgrade to Premium hotels in Revelstoke at the Sutton Place Resort and in Valemount at the Best Western Plus.

All prices are quoted at double occupancy in a standard hotel room. There are concessions for triple and quad rooms and a supplement if you wish to upgrade to a single room and/or upgrade to Premium hotels.

Please note: This itinerary is subject to change due to unforeseen (weather) conditions. Departure times may vary by date, please see your confirmation email for exact departure times.

It’s an early start this morning. You will need to arrive at Canada Place at 8:00 am for a 8:15 am departure. Please don’t be late as we will not wait for you to arrive. As you leave Metro Vancouver and travel through the Fraser Valley, you will be greeted with some of the most beautiful sights of our coastal rainforest. The area is steeped in history; the history of Simon Fraser, the famous annual salmon runs up the Fraser River and the importance of the river and valley to the logging industry. You will then cross from the coastal mountain range into the Okanagan Valley, Canada’s desert region, famous for its wine and fruit farms. Kamloops awaits for a lunch stop. This is another authentic interior British Columbia town that has a wide variety of food options available. What better way to wash down your lunch with a bit of a wine tasting at the Monte Creek winery. You will then travel onto your accommodation for the night in Revelstoke. The downtown of Revelstoke is steeped in history. There are a number of fantastic restaurants, including an Indian/German/Asian fusion restaurant. It may not sound appetising, but trust us when we say this unique combination of flavours will make your taste buds explode!
After enjoying a continental breakfast at your hotel, you will depart Revelstoke and begin the journey to Banff as a final destination of the day. But there is so much to see on the way, you will be blown away. Today is the lake day. Before reaching the first lake, you will travel through the historic Roger’s Pass. From here you will move onto Lake Louise, one of the most famous lakes in the world. And it’s fame is well deserved. The sight of the turquoise lake, complete with a backdrop of a glacier between the valley, is something that you will remember for the rest of your life. You will then travel onto either Emerald Lake or Lake Moraine, depending on the weather conditions. Here you will be able to rent a canoe and see parts of the lake that are inaccessible by foot. Once you have the blues and greens in your system, you will be whisked off to the famous Town of Banff, deep in the heart of the Rockies. You will enjoy a sightseeing tour in the town of Banff – among the highlights are visits to Banff Ave, Bow Falls and Banff Springs Hotel, a site with many tales of ghosts, including the mystery of room 873. You will check into your hotel on Banff Avenue & enjoy free time for dinner and shopping or you can go to the Banff Hot Springs! You also have the option of going up Sulphur Mountain on the Banff Gondola this evening and see the stunning valley surrounding the town in a glow of golden light. This is something that we highly recommend.

So sad, it is the last breakfast of the adventure at your hotel. The first sightseeing stop of the day is at Spahats Falls in Clearwater. This waterfall is an idyllic venue for a photo opportunity. The cut in the mountain that the water has created over millennia is the funnel point for this gushing waterfall as it cascades down into the bowl below. You will stop for lunch at an authentic Canadian ranch. You will finish up the last stop of the adventure with a stop at Othello Tunnels. These tunnels were cut from the granite cliffs in 1914 by the Canadian Pacific Railway connecting the Kootenays to the Coast. A total of five tunnels were cut out as part of the Kettle Valley Railway grade. The engineering effort it took to build this route was impressive, especially considering the limited infrastructure of the time. You will have the opportunity to walk through the tunnels and cross the cascading Coquihalla River. This area is also rich in film history, with several blockbuster film scenes shot at Othello Tunnels. You will return to Vancouver at approximately 7:30 pm

Your tour includes all the essentials but you can add extra wow-factor to your tour by adding on the activities and accommodation upgrades that suit you best.

The Ice Explorer Glacier Tour optional activity will not be available on the following dates: April 15, October 14

A dream tour

Enzo W

I had a wonderful trip to Rocky Mountains through the company. The accommodations were well located and some of the nicest in the areas we visited. The landscapes were stunning. Our guide was excellent. She gave us a complete overview of the history and culture of the cities and countryside. She was always available to us, and made great restaurant choices for us for the meals that were not included in our itinerary. Those meals that were included were at some of the best restaurants available. Our driver who was also always available to us, navigated the roads both within the cities and without, with care and knowledge of the areas through which we traveled. We would not hesitate to recommend this travel company to anyone wishing to tour British Columbia and Alberta.

Excellent Tour!

I had an excellent time on this tour. The scenery was fantastic, our tour guides, Jude and Angie, were great, the amount of knowledge they had regarding everywhere we went and also about Canada in general was really quite extraordinary! It was delivered in such a way that you never felt bored and there was the right amount so that we were informed but it was not too much. The whole tour was very well organised – keeping 50+ people on track is no mean feat! The hotels were good and the coach was comfortable. Our driver Tammy, was also great – some of the roads looked pretty tricky but she never missed a beat and always cheerful!! I came away with great memories and a lot more knowledge about Canada. Thank you for an awesome experience!!!

Amazing Tour of the Rockies!

I did the 4D3N Summer Classic Tour of the Rockies and it was amazing! Our guide Chris was great; informative, funny and good at managing such a big group of us. Our driver was pretty nice as well, and we got to all our places safely and on time. The hotel accommodation in Revelstoke and Banff were good, with the breakfast buffet at Banff being the highlight. I didn’t quite enjoy the bbq dinner/ranch breakfast as the food wasn’t great. Overall though, a lovely trip!

Unforgettable tour through the most awe inspiring scenery.

We have the highest praise for this tour. Starting from the itinerary, scenic spot stops, hotel stays, safety, comfort and fun during the bus ride we would give this tour a ten on ten! Our special thanks to Jude, Angie and Tammy, who made the tour a totally fun and enjoyable experience. Their dedication, organization and attention to detail deserves the highest praise. Jude and Angie, your “baby bears” loved the care and attention you gave us. interesting stories and information that you shared with us during the ride made our trip more meaningful and memorable. Tammy you are a hero for driving us around dawn to dusk through those tough mountain roads. If I were to go to Mars, I would definitely love to have these three young ladies in charge! Thank you all for a trip we will never forget.
