This tour, as with all of our Rocky Mountain Tours, is the perfect mix of beautiful sightseeing, and awesome activities. Specifically, this tour includes visits to Emerald Lake, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Peyto Lake, a night at the famous Mountain View Cabins!
Day 1 – Travel from Victoria to Golden
Meet at 6:45 am at the Royal BC Museum to begin our journey to the Rocky Mountains. Your tour guide will start introductions and go over the schedule for the weekend while you drive to the ferry and travel across the gorgeous Georgia straight (with a chance to see dolphins and orcas!). Once on the mainland, we’ll pass through Vancouver and head to the beautiful and scenic Coquihalla Highway to Kamloops, where we will stop for lunch. From Kamloops, we continue to Golden. We stop en route for you to pick up some dinner supplies. Upon arrival into Golden we will check into the Mountain View Cabins**! The rest of the evening is yours to enjoy. We will supply you with the makings for s’mores–Canadian delicacies made out of marshmallows, cookies, and chocolate–as well as a warm drink. We recommend you enjoy your toasty snacks next to the campfire, and get to know the rest of the people on your tour whilst glowshoeing (snowshoeing with glowsticks)!
Day 2 – Golden to Banff
This morning we will have breakfast (included) before departing Golden at approximately 8:00 am. Then we make our way through Yoho and Banff National parks, towards the iconic mountain town of Banff. We will stop on the way at the famous Lake Louise and go Ice Skating* on the frozen lake. After skating, we will go for an ice hike through Johnston Canyon to some frozen waterfalls before arriving in Banff. Once in we are in Banff, we will drive up to the world-famous Banff Gondola* for a majestic sight-seeing experience on top of Sulphur Mountain. (Banff gondola only available Nov – Dec, Highest Gondola in the Mountains Jan – Mar) After this, we will check into a fantastic hotel in downtown Banff at approximately 7:00 pm. You are then free to go and have dinner on your own at one of the many restaurants in the town. Later in the evening your tour guide (and everyone else) will meet you to go out for the night! First, we will go to a pub that has great drink specials, and afterwards we will finish the night at Hoodoo Nightclub, the best nightclub in Banff!
Day 3 – Banff to Golden
Today we will start by visiting the picturesque Lake Minnewanka and Two Jack Lake before soaking in the relaxing and refreshing Banff Hot Springs*. Afterwards, we will have some free time in Banff to go shopping for souvenirs and to dream of living in this mountain paradise. Making our way back to Banff and Yoho National Parks, we will stop at Emerald Lake–one of the most underrated lakes in the Rocky Mountains. From here we depart for the Mountain View Cabins, where we will conclude our last full day together around the campfire once more. This is often referred to as the best night of the tour, where you can party and enjoy the cabin atmosphere with your new friends from the tour.
Day 4 – Golden to Victoria
Today is the last day of your trip to the Rocky Mountains! This morning we wake up early for breakfast and a woodland snowshoeing experience. We will then depart from the Mountain View Cabins and head towards the rustic ski town of Revelstoke for some lunch supplies. Once we depart Revelstoke, we will leave the Rocky Mountains and travel through British Columbia’s rain shadow back towards Kamloops. After this, we will head on to Vancouver with one stop at Zopkios Viewpoint. We plan to arrive back in Vancouver at approximately 7:00 pm, where we’ll catch the ferry and be back at the Royal BC Museum in Victoria around 11:30 pm, where your unforgettable journey to the Rocky Mountains will come to an all too soon end.
