Day 1 – Travel from Vancouver to Golden
We will meet at 7:00 am to begin our journey to the Rocky Mountains. Along the way, we will stop in Hope, a small town just outside of Vancouver. From here we will make our way to Kamloops, where we will stop for lunch. From Kamloops, we will continue on our way to Golden. Upon arrival into Golden at approximately 6:00 pm, we will check into the Mountain View Cabins**! The rest of the evening is yours to enjoy. We will supply you with the makings for s’mores–Canadian delicacies made out of marshmallows, cookies, and chocolate–as well as a warm drink. We recommend you enjoy your toasty snacks next to the campfire, and get to know the rest of the people on your tour!
Day 2 – Golden to Banff
This morning we will have breakfast (included) before departing Golden at approximately 8:00 am. Then we make our way through Yoho and Banff National parks, towards the iconic mountain town of Banff. We will stop on the way at the famous Lake Louise and go Ice Skating* on the frozen lake. After skating, we will go for an ice hike through Johnston Canyon to some frozen waterfalls before arriving in Banff. Once in we are in Banff, we will drive up to the world famous Banff Gondola* for a majestic sight-seeing experience on top of Sulphur Mountain. After this, we will check into a fantastic hotel in downtown Banff at approximately 7:00 pm. You are then free to go and have dinner on your own at one of the many restaurants in the town. Later in the evening your tour guide (and everyone else) will meet you to go out for the night! First, we will go to a pub that has great drink specials, and afterwards we will finish the night at Hoodoo Nightclub, the best nightclub in Banff!
Day 3 – Banff to Golden
Today we will start by visiting the picturesque Lake Minnewanka and Two Jack Lake before soaking in the relaxing and refreshing Banff Hot Springs*. Afterwards, we will have some free time in Banff to go shopping for souvenirs, and to dream of living in this mountain paradise. Making our way back through Banff and Yoho National Parks, we will stop at Emerald Lake–one of the most underrated lakes in the Rocky Mountains. From here we depart for the Mountain View Cabins, where we will conclude our last full day together around the campfire once more. This is often referred to as the best night of the tour, where you can party and enjoy the cabin atmosphere with your new friends from the tour.
Day 4 – Golden to Vancouver
Today is the last day of your trip to the Rocky Mountains! This morning we wake up early for breakfast and a woodland snowshoeing experience. We will then depart from the Mountain View Cabins and head towards the rustic ski town of Revelstoke for some lunch supplies. Once we depart Revelstoke, we will leave the Rocky Mountains and travel through British Columbia’s rain shadow back towards Kamloops. After this, we will head on to Vancouver with one stop at Zopkios Viewpoint. We will arrive back in Vancouver at approximately 7:30 pm, where your unforgettable journey to the Canadian Rocky Mountains will all-too-soon come to an end.
*These are optional activities (however strongly recommended!). Please see “Dates and Prices” for more details. The Ice Skating activity is a seasonal activity–we need snow and ice for this to happen!
**Please note that on tour dates with multiple busses, one night will be spent at the cabins, and one night will be spent in a hotel. Ice Skating on Lake Louise – $11*
During the winter, the glacier-fed waters of Banff National Park freeze over, giving you the opportunity to go ice skating at one of the most scenic skating rinks in the world: Lake Louise. Even if you don’t know how to skate, you will quickly learn and definitely enjoy the incredible surroundings. Enjoy the serenity of the carved ice structures against the scenery of glaciers, or take part in some ice hockey action!
Banff Gondola – $45
Cruise for fourteen glorious minutes in a fully enclosed gondola to one of the Banff National Park’s greatest views! From 2088m (6850ft), the spectacular scenery is yours to explore at will. Take a stroll along the 2 kilometre ridgetop boardwalk to the peak of Sulphur Mountain and enjoy 360-degree views of the Rocky Mountains and beyond!
