Our Great Canadian Adventure Road Trip Tours are operated with mini coaches to create a small group atmosphere. Not only are these tours a great way to experience Canada, but they also boast a range of activities including hiking, biking, canoeing and more while providing the chance to see some of the worlds’ most breathtaking natural beauty! These 6-day adventures through the Rocky Mountains use a mix of hostels, hotels and cabins. NOTE – there is NO sharing beds on this tour as everyone gets their own bed every night. 3 nights are in queen beds and 2 nights are in single dorm beds.
Day 1 – Vancouver to Golden, BC
Meet at 7:30 am to begin our journey to the Rocky Mountains. Our first stop is Hope where the original Rambo First Blood movie was filmed. From here we will make our way over the beautiful and scenic Coquihalla Highway to Kelowna in the heart of the Okanagan Valley. We stop at the beach in Kelowna where you have the chance to take a dip in Lake Okanagan, home of the legendary Ogopogo. Our next stop is at The Last Spike on the trans-continental railway. From there we head over historic Rogers Pass to Mountain View Cabins, one of the highlights of the tour! This is the ultimate “Canadian experience” – mountain cabins, an all-you-can eat BBQ dinner (included), and roasting s’mores (marshmallows) over the campfire! Look towards the sky on a clear night to see millions of stars!
Day 2 – Golden, BC
We start the day with an all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast at the cabins. Then the day is yours to try one or more of the many local adventure activities such as:
- White Water Rafting – Golden boasts some of the best rafting in Canada
- Horseback riding in the Rockies
- Sky diving!
- Hike to Wapta Falls (this hike is not escorted – you are on your own to explore one of the Rockies lesser known and lesser visited waterfalls)
Plus we head to the brand new Whitetooth Brewery to sample some of the local beers from BC’s newest micro-brewery!
In the evening we visit one of Goldens’ pubs to sample the local talent before returning to the cabins for another Rocky Mountain campfire.

Day 3 – Golden, BC to Banff, AB
We again start the day with an all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast at the cabins. From the cabins we head to Yoho National Park where we go canoeing on Emerald Lake (included). After paddling on this stunning mountain lake we stop at Takakkaw Falls. NOTE – this is the ONLY West Trek tour to visit this magnificent waterfall. After the falls we visit Lake Louise, one of the most famous places in the Rocky Mountains! At Lake Louise you have the option to hike to Lake Agnes perched high above Louise. Our next stop is at Moraine Lake – one of the most spectacular lakes in the Rockies! We spend 2 nights at the YWCA in Banff in a multi-bed dormitory. The Y is only minutes to the centre of Banff. This evening you are free to go and have dinner with new friends. After dinner, your tour guide will organize a night out! First we will go to a pub that has great drink specials, and afterwards we will finish the night at Hoodoo, the best nightclub in Banff!
Day 4 – Banff, AB to Valemount, BC
Rise and shine for your best chance to enjoy Banff on a bike tour (included). In the afternoon you have the option to explore Banff and do some shopping OR join your guide for the Minnewanka Loop featuring Lake Minnewanka and Two Jack Lake. Explore the mountain town of Banff at your leisure. You have 2 great options (extra costs):
- the Mt. Norquay chairlift for great views of Banff and the Bow Valley
- an evening soak in the Upper Hot Springs on Sulphur Mountain
This will be your last night in Banff to dine at one of the many great eateries of Banff and enjoy the Banff nightlife!
Day 5 – Banff, AB to Valemount, BC
On the way out of town we stop at Tim Hortons for a delicious breakfast (included). We then head to the famous Icefields Parkway – named one of the most beautiful drives in the world? Our first stop on the Parkway is beautiful Bow Lake where you will have the opportunity to do the icy Polar Wolf Swim! Next we stop at the Peyto Lake viewpoint. Prepare to be awed! From there we head to The Columbia Icefields. At the Icefields we strongly recommend that you join the Glacier Snowcoach tour. This is a highlight for many of our guests. The enormous Snocoach will take you up onto the Athabasca Glacier for a great photo opportunity (remember your water bottle to taste some of the freshest water in the world!). Next we head to thundering Athabasca Falls before stopping in Jasper for some quick shopping / sightseeing. We have one final stop today at Mt. Robson – the highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies. After we check in to our hotel in Valemount we head out to The Cowboy Ranch Experience – a West Trek exclusive. You will visit a real Canadian ranch to see a Cowboy show and enjoy a delicious dinner (included).
Day 6 – Valemount, BC to Vancouver
After breakfast at the hotel (included) we begin our journey home traveling down the scenic Yellowhead Highway. Our first stop is at Spahats Falls before we head to Kamloops for a lunch stop. We then travel over the scenic Coquihalla Highway before returning to Vancouver.

Guided Bike Tour of Banff
Rent bikes from downtown Banff and explore the endless opportunities this town and the surrounding areas have to offer – with no extra cost to you! Your experienced tour guide will show the tour group around, from Bow River to the natural Banff Hot Springs to Vermillion Lakes, there are seemingly endless options for views and adventure.
Emerald Lake Canoes
This activity is a long lasting West Trek tradition. Canoe the dramatically colorful Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park with a friend or two, and enjoy unique views of waterfalls and glaciers on the mountaintops surrounding the lake itself.
Mount Norquay Lift – $30
Cruise from the valley floor in Banff National Park all the way up to 7,000 feet on the Mount Norquay chairlift. More than just a ride, this activity provides breathtaking views of Bow Valley and the iconic Mount Rundle. Soaring over the habitats of Banff’s most famous wildlife – from grizzly and black bears, bighorn sheep, and bald eagles – you will also have fantastic opportunities to take in all the natural beauty this region has to offer.
Horseback Riding – $80
Experience the life of a true Wild West adventurer by riding horseback through the Blaeberry Valley. This 2-hour journey will give you a chance to see beyond the popular tourist spots and instead trek into the back country of Golden, BC to see some of the most beautiful and secluded views in the Rocky Mountains.
Snocoach Glacier Experience – $65
One of the most unique attractions in the Rocky Mountains, you will be taken in an Ice Explorer designed for glacial travel, onto the surface of the Athabasca Glacier. The tour is approximately 1.5 hours, where you will learn about glaciers, icefields, and their impact on our environment. Halfway through the tour, you will be able to step out onto the glacier. This experience is only open mid-April to mid-October.
Whitewater Rafting – $100 (3 hours) $140 (5 hours)
Experience the exciting rapids of Kicking Horse River in Golden, BC with an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. This activity offers either 3 or 5-hour segments of pure adventure in the water. Rafting with Glacier Raft Company will give you stories to tell your friends for years to come.
