Adventure Vs. Explorer: The Right Yukon package for Your Budget

By Michael Song | January 9, 2023
The Yukon, the Great white north’s, great white north! The Yukon territory in Canada’s north is on many people’s bucket lists (it's certainly on mine!) and offers hearty adventurers the exciting opportunity to experience nature at its most wild. From dazzling light shows, unique wildlife, and goldrush towns, to fascinating indigenous history, and amazing outdoor adventures, the Yukon is the perfect destination for those looking to get out in the wilds of Canada.

Another amazing attraction, perhaps the most famous, found in the Yukon is the northern lights, otherwise known as the Aurora Borealis. In technical terms, particles from the sun hit Earth’s atmosphere at stupendous speeds and then the earth’s magnetic field redirects these particles toward the poles. This redirection creates a magical light show – for the layman, this means very pretty lights in the night sky! This phenomenon only occurs near the north (or south) poles, which means the Yukon is a top destination for Aurora chasers and it’s a huge reason why the Yukon should be on your bucket list this winter.

Since the Yukon is all about being in nature, other amazing activities you will want to experience when visiting The Yukon are dog-sledding, snowshoeing, ice-fishing and tobogganing! There really is no shortage of fun activities to experience in the Yukon.

Up until very recently, however, The Yukon has often been considered a destination only the privileged few could enjoy. This was due to its supposed remote location and few accommodation options. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Trips to the Yukon could hardly be any easier (and quicker). There is also an itinerary for every budget courtesy of Discover Canada Tours. Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon is only a few hours by plane from the city of Vancouver. This makes the Yukon the perfect weekend trip to see the northern lights this winter!

Our super exciting and engaging brand, West Trek Tours, offers intrepid travellers looking for a winter Yukon experience two northern lights packages. These tours are only 3 days in length, allowing everyone visiting Vancouver to take a 3-day weekend to see the northern lights! Our two tours are the: 3-day Adventure tour and the 3-day Explorer tour, one of which is sure to give you exactly the experience you want at the price point that will excite you just as much!
